fall out boy is back with a new album, and while it might sound trite, melodramatic even, it's not an exaggeration to say life has meaning again, a piece of wonder and awe lost you didn't consciously know was missing.

even more importantly, they have a new tour; and this hits me like a punch in the gut, but a good kind, the best kind of shock: that people who strove to be creative in their twenties could spend time apart, grow apart, and then in their thirties dovetail back together.

no one can go back to being the twenty-two yr old you remember in your mind, that false memory of who you think you were; but that doesn't mean you can't still make music at thirty, can't still choose to hit the road even if you've changed and the ones you're travelling with have changed, too.

yesterday, I wouldn't have believed that truth; today, I might still not, but the possibility fills me with hunger to find out.

that tattoo was originally meant as an homage, as a rememberance of veering away from a speeding train. now it's a reminder that you can feel as much, as much wonder as the twenty two yr old, as the seventeen yr old, you remember.
