So I have the Whitlams on repeat, and I was going to do a boring and introspective post wherein no one would be cheered, no joy would have been spread and there would have been no messages sent off into the dark.

The fact that the world does not always reward what you perceive as positive emotions does not mean you shouldn't focus on them anyway. The only thing you can be sure of is yourself; so focus on that and otherwise expect disappointment. Learn to like it.
